Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is celebrated worldwide every October, helps increase attention and support in the awareness, early detection, treatment and palliative care.

Data from Dr. Heriberto Pieter Cancer Institute report that breast cancer is the most common cancer, among the population served at the center.

Each year, about 500,000 new cases occur worldwide. One, of 8 to10 women will suffer it.

Breast cancer, when diagnosed in early stages, is a potentially curable disease. Identifying high-risk population and using the self-examination, the ultrasound screening and mammography screening programs can be implemented, that seek to reduce mortality due to this disease.

An early detection can save your life!
